2018 CATERWAUL NAPA VALLEY

2018 CATERWAUL NAPA VALLEY

W I N E  D E S C R I P T I O N
With the majority of grapes hailing from St. Helena, the 2018 Caterwaul Napa Valley is very expressive upon first pour. A tantalizing
perfume of fresh blackberry and dark cherry jump from the glass with notes of cedar and burnt tobacco rounding out the nose. On the palate the wine is medium to full bodied with creme de cassis and dark berry tones giving way to velvety tannins that lead into a bright and refreshing finish. This Vintage of the Napa Valley bottling is an excellent showcase of the optimal 2018 growing season and will be difficult to cellar as it is drinking so well right now.

V I N T A G E
A near picture-perfect growing season characterized the 2018 Vintage. Starting in February the vines arose from their winter slumber
and as late spring approached, flowering yielded uniform grape clusters. The mild and warm summer gave way to a steady harvest
season that afforded the grapes extended hang time. Coming off the heels of a difficult vintage like 2017, we were graced with a “bumper crop” and saw yields up 20-30%. We are incredibly excited to watch the 2018 wines develop as we refine and explore what is possible with our vineyard sites.

P A R T N E R S H I P
A partnership between Matt Hardin and Thomas Brown was formed during the 2014 vintage after countless years of working together. Out of that friendship the idea of utilizing the strengths of one another
gave birth to Caterwaul wines.
